This week’s Friday Focus arrives to you from the air over France… I planned to write a new question, but I was delayed by the many strikes within France during my visit.
But, I do want to bring the wonderful energy of Paris into this week’s Friday Focus! So, here are links to the Friday Focus Paris Quartet from my last trip to France in October, 2013.
See you next week back on US soil!

“Monday was difficult. It was our fourth day in Paris. By then I expected to be well-rested, full of “Paris Passion” and settling into a rhythm of writing and exploration. Instead I faced a clogged toilet, a missing husband and continuing jet-lagged sleep disruption that had me fully off-kilter. My expectation that I should be feeling otherwise did not help.”… READ MORE

“Ready to upgrade your current operating system with a system reboot? Spend time with these questions. Allow them to challenge assumptions that are outdated or not working effectively.
~ Are you living the invitation that life offers or are you questioning the invitation?
~ Do you feel at home with yourself? What would allow that?
~ Are you able to observe your own actions?
~ Do your actions align with your words?
~ Are your words and actions aligned with a picture that extends beyond you?
~ Do you give credence to what your body tells you? Do you pay attention to its signals?
Have you learned how quiet and calm really feels?” READ MORE

“I’ve come to Paris for a month. I wanted to give myself space for something new to emerge. I did this deliberately, stepping away from my familiar terrain: my job, my home and my language. My body had to deal with the anxiety of all this change in the midst of my desire to experience what was new! Sometimes you have to give your body time to catch up with your intention.” READ MORE

“In this last week in Paris my process of orienting to change has an unexpected component. I had thought that preparing to return home would feel easy, returning to what was familiar. Instead I feel myself again in the void, with a not-quite-comfortable pit in my stomach. I start to fill the space with questions like, “Have I done what I came to do?”; “Do I want to stay?”; “What am to return home with?”; “Is there something else that is to happen here?” I take a few breaths to settle myself into this new space of emptiness. My inner questioning shifts. What is it that is calling to be explored? Is there some action I need to take?” READ MORE
Take a breath. Release it. Take another. Devote some dedicated time of concentration/meditation. It doesn’t need to be hours of quiet, perhaps only 15 minutes. Then allow the question to simmer within you through the weekend. Let responses bubble up into your awareness. Notice new ways of thinking, of images or ideas that arise spontaneously. Pay attention to your dreams. Let it happen. Be aware. See where it leads you next. Let yourself savor this process of receiving from yourself. Don’t judge whatever comes up, just receive it. Make notes.
You may want to share something from this process. Sharing can be an important way to anchor an insight in your body. It can lead you to deeper insight. It can stimulate action.
