A new calendar year often serves as a marker to move us to make changes. The first step is determining what we want to be different.
What area in your life has not had much attention? When you are quiet, what calls to you in a small voice from within to explore? If you take some quiet time to listen, you may discover something that could nourish you throughout the year. Could you set aside some time for this?
How do you create the plan for this? You become the researcher. You embark on a journey of inner self-research.
Perhaps there is an aspect of you that is longing for expression. What are the next steps that you can take?
If you are to be the creator of your life, you need to take conscious action. So, how will you take what you discover in your research and put it into action? This, too, is important to consider.
I’ve just started taking cello lessons, something I always wanted to do and recently prompted by a “chance” encounter with a musician moonlighting as a waitress! It’s allowing me to explore whether I have hidden musical talent that is waiting to emerge. Most importantly, though, I’m having fun!
What will you embark upon in this new year?
Take a breath. Release it. Take another. Devote some dedicated time of concentration/meditation. It doesn’t need to be hours of quiet, perhaps only 15 minutes. Then allow the question to simmer within you through the weekend. Let responses bubble up into your awareness. Notice new ways of thinking, of images or ideas that arise spontaneously. Pay attention to your dreams. Let it happen. Be aware. See where it leads you next. Let yourself savor this process of receiving from yourself. Don’t judge whatever comes up, just receive it. Make notes.
You may want to share something from this process. Sharing can be an important way to anchor an insight in your body. It can lead you to deeper insight. It can stimulate action. Feel free to use this arena to share whatever moves you.
