When you begin to rely on your inner guidance in life, one of the biggest challenges is usually this question: How do I trust this? Your capacity to have discernment in relation to your inner guidance is key!
Whether you are aware of it or not, discernment is needed in every moment of life. To know which way to turn. To know what (and who) to trust. Especially, to determine your next step so that you get where you need to go without crashing on the rocks. Discernment is that important.
Why do I make such a bold statement?
Consider this for a moment:
- Are you able to feel when someone is telling you the truth?
- Do you know how to determine your right next step?
- Can you tell when an idea is coming from your deepest self? Or, instead, when it’s really part of an outdated and unproductive pattern? And getting in your way of what you really want.
Discernment is the guide in each of these. Discernment isn’t the same as judgment. Judgment speaks of control and a need to be right. If you are judging something in yourself or in another, you cannot uncover what is true in a situation.
However, if you are to take the “road less traveled”, if you are to discover a path that resonates with an inner sense that has been longing for expression, you must learn how to use discernment. And since you are reading this, I imagine that you are one of those who refuses to settle for anything less.
Discernment is critical for you to develop if your Quantum Connection style is a Creative Dreamer. (Check out the Quantum Connection quiz to find out your natural way of being in the world and expressing your Creative Intelligence.) It will help you focus on which of your “great ideas” is yours to do. That helps you move forward into making it real!
By the way, your ability to discern will let you answer a clear “yes!” to each of those questions I asked you to consider earlier.
Discernment of Your Next Step
How do you begin? Bring your attention into your heart center. Settle into this space. Get to know what it feels like to be here. Be patient: discernment is something that must be learned from the inside.
Here’s the thing. The heart center is where you connect most directly with your feeling body. It is more reliable than your “gut instinct” alone.
Take action from this place. Often, you cannot see very far down the road. You may not even know which way is “forward”; you simply trust that a path is there as you step. What happens? Your path appears just ahead of you as you act.
So be willing to move even if you are afraid. In the act of stepping out you open yourself to the landscape of what is possible.
The creative moment lies in the willingness to trust that your feet will find the earth—or that wings will sprout to carry you over the divide. As you learn to feel with your inner sensing the difference between a true step and a false one, you build that sensitivity into a foundation of discernment you can rely on to guide your choices.
This is why discernment is needed in each moment. So that you can TRUST the guidance that you receive.
Now
Take a breath. Release it. Take another. Devote some dedicated time of concentration/meditation. It doesn’t need to be hours of quiet, perhaps only 15 minutes. Then allow the question to simmer within you through the weekend. Let responses bubble up into your awareness. Notice new ways of thinking, of images or ideas that arise spontaneously. Pay attention to your dreams. Let it happen. Be aware. See where it leads you next. Let yourself savor this process of receiving from yourself. Don’t judge whatever comes up, just receive it. Make notes.
You may want to share something from this process. Sharing can be an important way to anchor an insight in your body. It can lead you to deeper insight. It can stimulate action. Feel free to use the comments below to share whatever moves you.
