It feels awful, doesn’t it?
And if that weren’t enough to make you stop ( and it often isn’t), there’s something more to consider.
The insidious nature of critical self-talk is devastating to the development of consciousness. It’s an annihilation of your spirit. Joy is flattened. Because when you operate on “automatic”, the patterns and roles developed over a lifetime, come quickly to the surface and take hold.
Self-awareness and freedom of choice are no longer available to you.
Pay attention to patterns
Patterns of self-expectation and self-deprecation show up in your inner dialogue, your thoughts, and in your interaction with others. Recognizing these patterns requires you to pay attention. Regularly. Whenever you feel your body getting tight. Asking questions of yourself in order to identify what is true. Stepping out of self-judgment.
Be willing to receive a new dimension of awareness of who you are. Quantum leaps in consciousness are grounded in the moment-by-moment attention that you pay to your everyday life.
Aren’t you ready to give yourself this gift of attention? Have some fun and create more freedom with the experiments in our free 7 Awareness Provoking Experiences. It’s all about getting out of restriction and building new pathways.
Your creative, intuitive, curious self awaits.
Take a breath. Release it. Take another. Devote some dedicated time of concentration/meditation. It doesn’t need to be hours of quiet, perhaps only 15 minutes. Then allow the question to simmer within you through the weekend. Let responses bubble up into your awareness. Notice new ways of thinking, of images or ideas that arise spontaneously. Pay attention to your dreams. Let it happen. Be aware. See where it leads you next. Let yourself savor this process of receiving from yourself. Don’t judge whatever comes up, just receive it. Make notes.
You may want to share something from this process. Sharing is an important way to anchor an insight in your body. It leads you to deeper insight. It stimulates action. Share what moves you!
